To tell you a little about me…

I was born and raised in Powell River, British Columbia, at the northern tip of the Sunshine Coast. Many of my relatives still live there, so I visit there quite often. A few hours of driving plus a couple of ferry rides, and you are far away from the city in a secluded little coastal town with plenty of fresh lakes, hiking trails, salt water fishing, and the most beautiful sunsets in the world (in my humble opinion).

Many years ago, after completing my studies at Camosun College in Victoria, I packed up my things and flew to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to seek out a new adventure. From there I started working as a stewardess on Private and Charter Motor Yachts–and what I intended to be one year of work and travel, turned into four. I traveled the world, following the sun as much as possible, and earned my keep by catering to some very high-end clientèle.

I returned to Vancouver in December of 2006, to be closer to my family and friends, and to find a new career in Marketing. For the past several years, I have worked in various different roles, in both conventional and new media marketing–everything from tradeshow coordination, to social media strategy, public relations, community management, and email marketing.

More recently, I specialized in marketing automation, conversion optimization, A/B testing, and content strategy. I helped drive user growth and revenue at Hootsuite Media, and was there through the company’s hyper-growth stage, assisting to grow the user base from 3 million to 12 million users.

In February 2015, I launched a side project with my siblings–Powtown Post–a website designed to shine a positive light on our hometown of Powell River, BC. We organically grew the fanbase from 0-1300 followers in just a few short months–and it continues to grow to this day!

I have now shifted my focus to Content Marketing, specializing in blog, email, and social media strategy. My most recent role was the Marketing & E-commerce Manager for Fossello’s Quality Clothing in Kelowna, BC.

I have a bit of a unique background, and a lot of stories to tell. This blog is a place to tell those personal and professional stories, and anything else I see fit.
